KEY PLAYERS Terence Newman – For my money, Newman is the most underappreciated player on the team. You can knock him for his lack of interceptions but he usually handles his business and has proven he can take a star receiver out of a game. Last year he posted his career-best numbers in both tackles and interceptions. Maybe this will be his last year in Dallas as the financial
KEY PLAYERS DeMarcus Ware – He’s a two-time league-leader in sacks and nearly broke Michael Strahan’s record in 2008. However many talking heads seem perfectly willing to rank guys like James Harrison and even an aging Julius Peppers over Ware. I know this isn’t the most unbiased forum, but I haven’t seen anyone in the NFL right now who brings the consistency and
KEY PLAYERS Jay Ratliff – It was a down year for the defense as a whole, but top players like DeMarcus Ware and Terence Newman still had a high level of statistical production. The same cannot be said for Ratliff, who disappeared both from the box scores and the highlight tapes. I theorized about Ratliff’s struggles and possible solutions in a previous blog (link), but
The NFL continued their series of The Top 100 Players of 2011, as voted exclusively by the players themselves. Tonight 70-61 were revealed. To start tonight’s list, #70 goes to Miles Austin, narrated by Coach Garrett. Miles came into the league as an undrafted rookie out of Monmouth University under Parcell’s tenure mainly as a special teams specialist, but was able
Each year, some of the tops picks of the draft are brought in for their rookie card photo shoots. According to Topps Football Cards, DeMarco Murray will be in attendance for his photo shoots. Here’s the list of players: Vincent Brown, WR- San Diego State (San Diego Chargers) Delone Carter, RB- Syracuse (Indianapolis Colts) Randall Cobb, WR- Kentucky (Green Bay Packers) Andy
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the lockout will continue until June 3rd, when the next hearing will determine whether or not the NFL Owner’s lockout is legal. By the looks of it, the pattern of rulings lean in favor of the owners for the June 3rd ruling as well. The ruling will be determined by the same three appellate judges who sided with the NFL with
Before the NFL Draft and especially now in its aftermath, Cowboys fans have been speculating what 2010 players will not be with the team next season. My CowboysBlog colleague gave his thoughts on Roy Williams’ future in a post yesterday (link). I actually disagree with Joe and think Roy will still be with us next season, but we’ll get to him later. For now, here
We’re in the heading into the homestretch and the question remains; Who Will the Cowboys draft? Not only do all the fans want to know who we’re drafting, but they absolutely know that the brain trust must hit on their draft picks. To me, the first three picks should be immediate contributors. I got together with my message board moderators and surveyed them on who they
The Cowboys continue to explore all options for offensive line help, and they will host another massive guard in Will Rackley, OG, Lehigh. Rackley measures in at 6’3” 309lbs, considered to be a 3rd round grade, Rackley is moving up draft boards and can go earlier by some estimations. The National Football Post is also reporting the same news on Rackley’s visit
Draft talk is in full swing and heating up as each day passes by. I wanted to get some opinions from a fellow Cowboys blogger about the Cowboys draft, so I set up a Q & A with Blogging The Boys very own, Dave Halprin. Dave’s work at BTB is one of the best out there, so it was great to get with him to set this up for all the Cowboys fans out there. So, here we go: Joe:
You know the drill by now…the Madden Curse sweepstakes are off and running on ESPN.com. ESPN is hosting a vote that will determine the next player to appear on the cover of Madden ’12 and DeMarcus Ware is on the ballot. The first round of voting will be completed by March 28th, so get in your vote. This is one of those things where you’d preferably vote for anyone
The Cowboys will be bringing in Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M on April 15th for Dallas Day. Dallas ESPN is also saying that Tyron Smith and Prince Amukamara are being considered to be some other top guys to be interviewed closer. The team would also like to speak with USC tackle Tyron Smith and Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara, two players that several mock drafts have the
