Aikman on Garrett: It’s a bottom-line business

Troy Aikman, QB, Dallas Cowboys

If you’re wondering if this is Jason Garrett’s last chance to get the Cowboys over the hump, you’re not alone. As a matter of fact, Troy Aikman is wondering the same thing.

Jon Machota from the Dallas Morning News has some intriguing comments from Aikman:

Aikman makes a legitimate point, and he knows how Jones’ family operates, so he knows this is probably it for Garrett.

You have to wonder if the situation in Dallas could end up like the Championship run the Tampa Bay Bucs had in 2002. Some will argue that Tony Dungy had revamped the roster with quality stars, and that Jon Gruden simply came in and was the last push they needed to get into Championship form.

I have to agree with Aikman, 100%. If Garrett, comes up short and is not given a new contract, then the following coach will have a stacked roster and could ride that talent into the playoffs and more. Until Garrett gets this team on consistent winning streak and into the playoffs, Gruden’s name will surely be attached to the Cowboys yet again. Would he be the final ingredient the Cowboys would need to get over the hump like the Bucs in 2002?
