The NFL’s offseason Super Bowl is in the bag, and now comes the undrafted free agent signings. We should know who else we’re bringing in by the end of the night. For now, let’s look at the NFC East draft picks. All teams in the East have just stacked up talent with this draft. Its going to be another challenging year.

The NFL Draft for day one is in the bag. I liked the new streamlined format, made for more excitement and sped up the draft. Here’s what the NFC East did today:

All around, the NFC East did not get any easier by any means. The NFC East as a whole had a great draft filled with immediate impact players. This is why this is the toughest division in the NFL. Tomorrow we’ll see the 3rd-7th rounds. The Cowboys currently have the #92, #100, and #167

NFL Free Agency is in full effect today, and several teams wasted no time in revamping their rosters. If you’re anxiously awaiting the Cowboys to make a big splash, don’t…The Cowboys don’t have much money left under the cap to make a big signing. Most of our money has been gobbled up by signing our own potential free agents. The Cowboys have been very pro active this offseason, and have been very methodical in their offseason moves.

The Cowboys did trade NT Jason Ferguson to the Dolphins, in doing this, the Cowboys will free up about $2.4 million dollars in additional cap space which will now jump up to an astonishing $4million. So, again, don’t expect any big moves, we may pick up a mid level nickel corner.

There’s also some speculation the Cowboys could bring in WR Javon Walker. Walker was just released by the Broncos. Walker was considered an elite WR a few seasons ago; however, injury riddled seasons have taken their toll on his knees and his market value. Walker is injury prone, there’s no doubt about that, so would the Cowboys take the risk on a player like Walker. He has the deep threat speed, but his health over the season would be a big concern. Walker could work out a cap friendly deal, and there’s a chance that our WR Coach, Ray Sherman could be the clincher. Sherman coached up Walker into a solid WR while in Green Bay, and he could seek to reunite with his WR coach. We’ll see.

The Cowboys still have some of their own players out in the market. Nickleback, Jacques Reeves is drawing the most interest so far. CB Nates Jones, FS Keith Davis, and RB Julius Jones are the other notable free agents, I don’t see any of them returning to Dallas.

The Rest of the NFL

The Eagles swoop in and sign CB Asante Samuel for a 6yr deal for $57million.

The Dolphins have been the most active team, and Parcells has this team going in the right direction already. The Dolphins jumped all over some keys players and have signed QB Josh McCown, OG Justin Smiley, WR Ernest Wilford, DT Randy Starks, LB Reggie Torbor, and new acquired NT Jason Ferguson. Parcells is acting quickly and already revamping the roster from top to bottom. Their defense will clearly be solid in 2008 with the players they added, and the players they still have, like Jason Taylor to name a few.

The Raiders sign SS Gibril Wilson from the Giants

The Jaguars signed WR Jerry Porter

The Jets acquired DT Kris Jenkins in a trade

The Buccaneers signed C Jeff Faine

Big Names Remain

RB Michael Turner met with the Falcons, but is expected to visit with the Titans, WR Randy Moss does not have a deal in place with the Patriots, so he could look around the league for a better deal, LB Lance Briggs is still available as well.

FREE AGENCY TRACKER 

In a must win game for the Eagles the Cowboys came into the Linc and crushed them from the first play of the game until the end. The Quadruplets, Romo, Witten, Barber, and Owens delivered the knockout punch and never looked back. Fresh off his newly signed contract Romo threw 3 TDs/1INT for 324 yards. Jason Witten is money all day long, tough as nails, and when Romo is in doubt he’ll throw it to Witten. Marion Barber continues to show his skills, and has now entrenched himself as an elite back in this league, MB3=Production. Owens had a breakout game, and had his way with the Eagles secondary all game long.

Besides the Quads, The Defense continued to be disruptive, and they were all over McNabb all night long. Forced fumbles, sacks, and INTs all led to the Eagles further spiral down into the NFC East cellar. Good bye Eagles.

The Cowboys will have their hands full against the much improved Giants next week, but we should be able to set them in their place. The East is going through Dallas, we know it, they know it, and the rest of the East knows it. Tank Johnson will make his debut as well, so that’ll be a welcome addition to the NT rotation. We will show up and take care of business in our own division. Should be a good game.

We’re whipping ass. We’re off to a good start. Penalties have been minimal this first half. A few miscues, and Romo’s INT, other than that, both units look good, especially the defense. Isaiah Stanback made his debut at KR, looks like the Tyson Thompson reign is over.

The 2nd half usually means putting teams away, let’s continue the onslaught as usual in the 2nd half.

Barber is an elite running back. Its official. What else needs to be seen from Barber. Jerry, Barber extension is the next one above the rest that should be rewarded. He’s doing a great job. More in the 2nd half for the closer!

The postgame for this game will be all about Romo, let’s put that out there right now. If we win the game, he gets headlines praising his new contract extension; however, if the Cowboys lose against the Eagles fresh off his new contract the media will turn it into some stupid blabber. Ignore it. We have our man, besides that, we are going to win this game against the Eagles. Jason Garrett has had two weeks to prepare the offense against the Eagles and it’s going to be a show, with Romo, Witten, Barber, and T.O as the featured headliners.

Keys to Victory

Penalties have plagued the Cowboys this season, and if the Cowboys plan on winning against the Eagles then the penalties must be minimal. Game management and opening drive defense needs to improve, I’m hoping to see Jason Hatcher in the opening drives.

Slow Down Westbrook and the Screen

The Eagles have a bad receiving corp, and knowing this, the Eagles will try to open up the receiving game by feeding the ball to Westbrook. They will try to execute some draw plays and the screen pass. The Eagles are one of the best teams when it comes to the screen pass. So, if we slow down Westbrook, we shutdown their entire offense, he’s their main cog in their talent depleted offense.

Beat Up McNabb

McNabb has not been the same since his last two major injuries, but he’s still effective. He’s definitely not as mobile, so if we get some pressure on him we should see some errant throws and if Ware should have a field day going against Winston Justice. We need to apply ample pressure on McNabb, if we do, we win this game for sure.

Thank God for the Boston Red Sox and their sweep of the Colorado Rockies. The quick end to the World Series brings an end to the long drawn out baseball season. Here’s to you Beantown! Congrats.

Now, its time for Football coverage 24/7 fullspeed ahead.

The Cowboys go back to work, and will be looking at taking out the Eagles on the road. The Eagles have been having a rollercoaster season, but when the Eagles play the Cowboys all season records go out the window. This is a bitter rivalry, and this will be a close game. With McNabb and Westbrook in the game its never a guaranteed win. The Eagles still have a decent defense, and the offense is led by Westbrook. The Eagles resemble the Vikings in my opinion. They have a better QB, but they also have a solid dual threat with Westbrook as a RB or WR. Their receivers are horrible, same as the Vikings, so this game will come down to the Cowboys slowing down Westbrook and over coming drive killing penalties.

The Redskins got obliterated by the Patriots, it wasn’t even close, this somewhat gives us a guage how we stack up the the Redskins. At least we made the game competitive and had a lead in the game. We lost that game because of our own mistakes, the Redskins just got whipped all game long.

The Giants had some problems against the lowly Dolphins, but a win is a win. I expect another battle when we face the G-men in NY.
